ten things you may not know about me until now
1. I am a strategic planner - and an independent brand and social media consultant - based in Bangalore, India. My last agency role was as Sr.Planning Director in a leading advertising agency in Bangalore, India. Before moving into planning, I used to head the creative team working on two of India's largest technology businesses.
2. My whitepaper - The Elongating Tail of Brand Communication : An approach to brand building incorporating long tail economics - is a winner of the WPP Atticus 2006 awards in the Branding and Identity category. The Atticus awards are given by WPP - the world's largest marketing communications company - for best original published thinking. They are contested globally.
3. Among others, the above paper also earned a nod from Chris Anderson - editor-in-chief of WIRED magazine and the original proponent of the long tail theory. The paper is also available as a ChangeThis Manifesto (ChangeThis is "an online media source" that spreads ideas that change minds and improve lives.”)
4. My blog, MisEntropy, is ranked 45,918 in the world by Technorati (as on 16th December 2007). The actual ranking varies and you can check how I am doing right now, along with the conversations my blog's inspiring.
5. The above Technorati ranking also makes my blog one among the Top 20 planning blogs in the world. This is based on the comprehensive list of all planning blogs maintained here (by me) and here (by the plannersphere collectively.)
6. I created and maintain MisEntropy Plannersphere Search Engine - a customised search engine that restricts its results only to all the planning blogs in the world - and making it an invaluable tool for planners from around the world.
7. I have a keen interest in social media and how the world of marketing and advertising will be changed by it. I have written thot pieces elaborating on the same.
8. I am a regular speaker at industry events on Web 2.0 and social media. I am also available for speaking and consulting assignments.
9. I am a great believer in continuous and indiscriminate learning. Proof of that is a weekly column I write titled 'Ten things I didn't know until last week' (which is inspired by a BBC column.) A tandem project is The Ignoramus Quiz, which I contribute on quiz groups and forums.
